When it comes to social media different people have different aims. Some people are looking to boost their reputation, get themselves known, and promote their work or goods through viral video marketing. Whereas others are looking to grow their accounts, become influencers and maybe make some money from the platform. If you are one of the people looking to boost your income, there are three important areas of TikTok that you need to understand to monetise
your TikTok videos.

1. TikTok Creator Next

According to TikTok, Creator Next is a program that has been designed to help TikTok creators to monetise their creations as they grow their communities. The TikTok Creator Next portal gives creators access to all the monetisation features, including the Creator Fund, TikTok Creator Marketplace, video and live gifts, as well as tips that allow users to send direct financial support to creators. Although this tool came into effect after the Creator Fund was put into place, it does not impact the creator fund at all. To join TikTok Creator Next you need to meet the following criteria:

• You need to have a minimum number of followers (typically 1000+, however, it depends on where your followers are located).
• You must have a minimum of 1000 video views.
• Need to have posted three TikTok videos within the last 30 days.
• Adhere to TikTok community guidelines, if you’ve violated these, this may impact your ability to join.
• Be 18 years or more, except for in South Korea where the minimum age limit is 19 and in Japan where you must be 20 years of age.
To apply, go to TikTok, go to your profile and tap the three lines icon in the top right corner. From there, click creator tools, tap join on the Creator Next banner and follow the on-screen instructions.

2. TikTok Creator Marketplace

The TikTok marketplace is a fantastic tool that helps to connect brands with creators. For example, if a brand is looking to begin a new campaign, it can search the creator marketplace to find a creator that can create the content that they need. Here, there is the option of paid campaigns and reward-based campaigns. Creator Marketplace is currently available in 24 countries. Once creators meet certain requirements (such as follower count, video content, engagement, etc) they will be invited to join. Only personal accounts are eligible to join, no business accounts. If you choose to apply, your application will be reviewed and you’ll be informed of the decision. If you are declined, you can reapply after 30 days.

3. Commission from TikTok Shop

This is a new feature that allows merchants, brands, businesses and creators to show and sell their products or services through TikTok by linking products on in-feed videos, Live’s and in the product showcase tab. There are two ways to make money. You can either sell as a merchant, or you can sell as an affiliate, making a commission on items you sell through your videos. To sell your products, you need to register as a merchant at seller-uk.tiktok.com. To do this you’ll need proof of ID and you’ll need to give out some of your details. Once you have applied, TikTok will verify documents, this is done within 2 days but is usually completed in just a few hours. There are some unsupported products that you’re not allowed to sell, it is a good idea to familiarise yourself with this list.

As you can see, making money on TikTok has never been easier!
